Choosing an AI Writing Tool

Top comment · Not to be flip about this, but it seems to me that you've got most of what you need in your own head, which is exactly where you want it. The most valuable part of what a writer does is to think about "what exactly am I trying to do... how do I get there?... how can this be better?" I've tried Sudowrite and Novelcrafter, and I always worry that they make my writing seem like a "finished product" before I think it's finished. If you've got documents that track canon and fanon texts, try uploading them into NotebookLM. The app was designed at Google with the guidance of a terrific writer (Steven Johnson). It's great at keeping your sources and answering questions about x vs y, clarity, consistency, etc. (The replies will literally footnote the source.) I have one long project with dozens of sources (research, drafts, etc.) I'll paste a new passage into NotebookLM and ask "is this consistent with ..." and it will analyze the text and compare it to what I've uploaded. Hope that's helpful.
