Who ranks for “conflict and power”

A "conflict of power" refers to disagreements or struggles between individuals or groups where the root cause is a power imbalance or competition for control, resources, or influence. These conflicts can manifest in various forms, including power struggles within teams, political disputes, and interpersonal conflicts in organizations.

Key aspects of conflict of power:

Power as a central theme: Power is the ability to influence or control, and it often lies at the heart of conflict. When individuals or groups have unequal power, it can lead to resentment, anger, and attempts to regain balance. Different forms of power: Power can be based on resources, expertise, relationships, legitimate authority, or even the ability to coerce or reward. Manifestations of power conflicts: These conflicts can occur in various settings, including workplaces, political arenas, and even family dynamics. Impact on individuals and groups: Power imbalances can lead to negative emotions like resentment, anger, and distrust. In organizations, this can manifest as reduced productivity and engagement. Managing power conflicts: Effective conflict resolution strategies may involve bringing in an impartial mediator, addressing the root causes of power imbalances, and finding ways to share power and influence, according to Pollack Peacebuilding.
