Our students remembered lives lost on 9/11 – see our last post – and now we’re seeing SRU alumni honoring those who were lost and the courage of those who answered the call. Here's Erik Greenawalt '99 with a touching tribute in Shanksville.

25 years later: We Remember. We Honor. We Climb. Before dawn on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, more than 60 members of SRU’s U.S. Army ROTC program and women's basketball team climbed 2,200 steps at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium to honor the lives lost and the courage of those who ran toward danger. Running the bleachers symbolizes the 110-floor ascent made by first responders and other brave men and women in the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001. Their courage still inspires our Rock community as we carry that spirit forward through service, strength and togetherness. #NeverForget #September11 #911Anniversary

After we welcomed Justin Bernstein to The Rock, this biology professor said “Welcome to the Jungle” to a newly discovered species of snake. 🐍 Of course, he and his fellow researchers at the Field Museum in Chicago named it after Slash, the legendary Guns N' Roses guitarist. 🎸 Read more about Dr. Bernstein and the discovery of Lielaphis slashi: https://news.sru.edu/news/bernstein-helps-discover-species-of-snake-named-after-guns-n-roses-guitarist/

Celebrating the people who move our University forward, SRU will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. We recognize and thank our faculty and staff for their dedication to our students and the University. We value the contributions of shared governance and our employee unions in strengthening our Rock Solid community.
