Nov. 20 is National Rural Health Day. It’s an opportunity to recognize the many ways rural hospitals advance health in their communities, as well as raise awareness about the challenges they face as they seek to preserve access to high-quality, affordable care.

### Chair File: Protecting 340B and Access to Care

For more than 30 years, the 340B program has helped eligible hospitals stretch limited federal resources to reduce the price of outpatient pharmaceuticals for patients and expand health services to the communities they serve. Despite the program’s proven record, there are those who say the program has grown out of control and continue to push to diminish the scope of the program and the benefits it affords providers and their patients.
