## AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D review
Processors 217 Published 2025-11-12 15:00 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 30
The Ryzen 5 7500X3D has been quietly building buzz ever since listings first appeared online a few weeks ago. This new CPU will feature 6 cores and 12 threads based on AMD’s Zen 4 architecture for the AM5 platform. It inherits the same 3D V-Cache technology that made its predecessors so popular, reportedly stacking up to 102 MB of total cache — with 96 MB of L3 and 6 MB of L2. Boost clocks are to reach just around 4.5 GHz, while keeping power consumption impressively low with a 65 W TDP. This combination makes it potentially the most efficient X3D chip AMD has ever released. With a price tag of around €279, the Ryzen 5 7500X3D could become the first truly budget-friendly 3D V-Cache processor — bringing near-flagship gaming performance to mainstream builders. It’s shaping up to be an ideal drop-in upgrade for anyone already running an AM5 motherboard and looking for top-tier gaming performance without breaking the bank.

## Intel Arrow Lake Refresh Leak Reveals Core Ultra 290K Plus - Three Plus SKUs
Published 2025-11-17 09:20 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0
Intel is giving Arrow Lake-S one more run before the platform retires, and a new leak details what the final batch of LGA 1851 processors will look like. According to new information three new “Plus” models are on the way: the Core Ultra 290K Plus, 270K Plus, and 250K Plus. These aren’t new architectures—they’re minor refreshes meant to squeeze a bit more performance out of Arrow Lake ahead of the switch to LGA 1954 with Nova Lake. At the top of the lineup is the Core Ultra 290K Plus. It sticks with the same 8P+16E configuration as the 285K but bumps the clocks slightly. P-cores now boost up to 5.6 GHz, E-cores can reach 4.8 GHz, and Thermal Velocity Boost moves up to 5.8 GHz. Nothing drastic, but enough to classify it as a refresh. The Core Ultra 270K Plus is arguably the more interesting SKU. It moves from 8P+12E to 8P+16E, giving it the same core configuration as higher-tier models. Boost speeds get a small uplift—mostly on the E-core side—but base clocks drop a bit, hinting that Intel may be using lower-binned silicon to differentiate it from the 285K.

Published 2025-11-17 09:11 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0
Intel’s workstation lineup is finally starting to take shape again, and the latest leak gives us the clearest look so far at what Granite Rapids-WS might bring to the HEDT space. The information comes from @momomo\_us, who published a list of early SKUs along with their clock speeds and L3 cache capacities. These are still preliminary entries, but they give a solid picture of how Intel intends to structure the upcoming stack. At the top sits a SKU labeled 698X, which features a massive 336 MB of L3 cache paired with an all-core frequency of 2.0 GHz. That kind of cache size usually hints at a very high core count, though the exact configuration hasn’t been disclosed yet.

## First 128GB DDR5 CUDIMM enables 256GB RAM on mainstream MSI Z890 motherboards
Published 2025-11-15 10:00 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 10
MSI are pushing desktop memory into new territory with the introduction of 128 GB DDR5 CUDIMM modules built on a 4-rank layout. This design doubles the amount of memory chips on the module compared to a regular dual-rank stick, letting you hit 128 GB on a single DIMM while keeping speeds at 5600 MT/s. The big takeaway is simple: even systems with just two DIMM slots, including many Mini-ITX boards, can now reach 256 GB without switching to workstation hardware. Up until now, you needed platforms like Xeon or Threadripper to get anywhere near these capacities, so seeing this land in the consumer space is a notable shift.

## NVIDIA DGX Spark achieves 175 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 - Guide enables DLSS 4 and path tracing
Published 2025-11-15 09:59 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 28
NVIDIA’s DGX Spark has turned into one of the more surprising performance stories of the week. This compact ARM-based AI box wasn’t designed with gaming in mind, yet a new configuration guide has shown that it can push Cyberpunk 2077 well beyond 175 FPS once DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation are enabled. What makes this even more interesting is that earlier attempts barely reached 50 FPS, so the jump in performance is substantial and entirely driven by software configuration rather than hardware changes. At the heart of the DGX Spark sits the GB10 super chip, which combines 20 ARM CPU cores with a Blackwell-class GPU offering 6144 CUDA cores. The system also includes 128 GB of LPDDR5X unified memory, mainly intended for running local AI workloads. The hardware is clearly powerful, but running modern Windows-based games on an ARM Linux platform is complicated. Applications must pass through Proton, Wine layers, and several compatibility shims. In the early days, these layers blocked access to DLSS, frame generation, and ray tracing, leaving Cyberpunk 2077 stuck around the 50 FPS mark at medium settings.

## First Benchmarks of Panther Lake Core Ultra X7 358H Indicate Limited Gains
Published 2025-11-14 18:21 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 3
Intel’s next mobile processor generation, Panther Lake, has started appearing in public benchmarks, and the first PassMark entry for the Core Ultra X7 358H gives us an early idea of what to expect. While Intel has been talking about better efficiency and a stronger integrated GPU with this architecture, the early CPU results don’t show much progress yet. That’s not unusual for pre-release hardware, but it does set the tone for what the company still needs to improve before launch. The X7 358H listed in PassMark is a 16-core part in a 4+8+4 layout. It carries 18 MB of L3 cache, which lines up with what leaked specifications have already hinted at. This mix of performance, efficiency, and low-power cores is supposed to help Intel balance battery life and responsiveness in thin-and-light systems. Even so, the numbers recorded so far aren’t especially encouraging for anyone expecting a noticeable step forward in CPU performance.

## Intel Panther Lake Prototypes Surface With Visible Core Layout
Published 2025-11-14 08:55 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 2
Fresh details about Intel’s Panther Lake platform are starting to land, thanks to a new Compute Tile die shot published by Chips and Cheese. The sample was built on Intel’s 18A node, the process Intel hopes will signal its return to competitive manufacturing. Early measurements taken from the image suggest that Intel has reached the density targets it set for 18A, putting it roughly where the company expected to be when compared with Lunar Lake’s earlier N3B-based designs. With density apparently on track, the big unknown now becomes whether Intel can deliver consistent yields. The die shot gives a clean look at Panther Lake’s core layout. The Compute Tile carries two Cougar Cove P-core clusters and three Darkmont E-core clusters, with the E-cores arranged in groups of four. This structure lines up with Intel’s hybrid architecture approach and reflects an evolutionary step rather than a dramatic redesign. What makes the analysis interesting is how closely the new areas match previous generations despite supporting larger caches.

## SSD Wear Concerns Raised After AMD Driver Logging Issue
Published 2025-11-14 08:48 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 25
A number of AMD users have started noticing something unusual in the latest chipset driver package: a system log file grows rapidly whenever they move or resize application windows in Windows. The activity traces back to the AMD External Events Utility, a background service included with the standard chipset installation. Once the service is active, every small window interaction triggers a fresh entry. The behavior is easy to record with disk monitoring tools, and users have independently confirmed the pattern. What remains unclear is whether this matters in any practical way.

## DRAM Output Won’t Increase Despite Rising Memory Prices
Published 2025-11-14 08:45 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 33
The memory market is heading into another difficult stretch, and there’s no clear sign that things will ease anytime soon. DRAM prices have climbed sharply over the past months, yet manufacturers aren’t preparing any meaningful increase in production. Instead, most of the industry is busy redirecting its efforts toward high-bandwidth memory needed for AI hardware. HBM consumes far more wafer resources than regular DRAM, and because it delivers much better margins, companies naturally shift capacity toward it. The end result is simple: less DRAM on the market and higher prices for everyone who needs it.

## Nvidia May Shift to Fully Assembled AI Servers Starting With Vera Rubin
Published 2025-11-14 08:41 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0
J.P. Morgan believes Nvidia is getting ready to take a much bigger slice of the AI server market by shifting from selling just GPUs to selling nearly complete AI systems. According to the report, the first big step in that direction will be the Vera Rubin platform. Instead of shipping GPUs, CPUs, boards, and cooling hardware separately, Nvidia may start delivering fully assembled L10 compute trays — essentially the entire heart of an AI server in one pre-built module. If this pans out, it would be a major change for the AI hardware supply chain. Today, OEMs and ODMs design motherboards, engineer power delivery layouts, choose the cooling approach, and put everything together. With Rubin, Nvidia may take most of that away. Partners would still build the outer chassis, install rack-level cooling gear, attach power shelves, add their management controllers, and handle system validation. But the complex part — the compute engine that eats most of the budget — would arrive ready-made from Nvidia. For OEMs, that means less engineering effort and fewer design risks, but also fewer opportunities to differentiate their hardware.

## Microsoft Fixes Windows 10 ESU Enrollment Failures with KB5071959
Published 2025-11-13 09:21 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 1
Windows 10 users sticking with the older operating system have one remaining lifeline for security updates: ESU, Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates program. It’s designed for systems that can’t move to Windows 11 or for users who simply prefer to stay on Windows 10 a little longer. ESU provides up to three more years of critical security patches, but you need to be enrolled to receive them. Depending on the device, enrollment can be either paid or linked to Windows Backup, and it also requires a Microsoft account. The problem is that not everyone could enroll. Over the last few months, a mix of bugs made ESU activation unnecessarily difficult. Some users in the EU saw messages claiming the service was temporarily unavailable, even though the program was active. Others trying to use the free activation method through Windows Backup ran into a generic “Something went wrong” message that stopped the process entirely. These issues appeared right as Windows 10 transitioned out of standard support, which created more confusion during a time when many users were already dealing with upgrade decisions.

## Nvidia Shield TV Update Resolves Disney+ Audio Dropouts, Accessibility and Stability
Published 2025-11-13 09:08 by Hilbert Hagedoorn 4
Nvidia has rolled out Shield Experience Upgrade 9.2.2, and while it’s not a feature-heavy release, it targets something many Shield TV owners will appreciate: better stability, smoother operation, and several overdue accessibility improvements. This update focuses on making the platform more reliable in day-to-day use, especially for users who depend on assistive tech or run the Shield TV as the core of their home cinema setup. One of the biggest areas Nvidia touched is accessibility. The system now gives an audible signal whenever you pair a Shield Remote or controller. It’s a small change, but it helps anyone who can’t rely solely on on-screen prompts—useful during the first-time setup as well as later adjustments in the settings menu. The update also introduces Bounce Keys, a feature that helps filter out accidental repeated key presses, and revises how key repeat timing works. For users with limited motor control, these tweaks make the interface much easier to handle. Nvidia also added a menu option to adjust accessibility timeouts, so users can decide how long certain assistive features remain active without timing out unexpectedly.
