Unlike traditional oracles that are middleware between centralized APIs to blockchains, Tellor is the benchmark for truth. Tellor produces data directly through the collective power of its reporters, not dependent on any single source.

Tellor allows users to define or “create” custom data types, enabling unique data requests that no other protocol can fulfill. The versatility to specify your own data ensures that Tellor can generate and secure any data your application requires.

# Enshrined Feeds

Tellor maintains a set of popular data feeds, known as Enshrined Feeds, which are regularly reported without the need for specific tips or requests. This ensures a consistent flow of essential data, like ETH/USD, while reducing gas costs and providing a public good that guarantees the availability of critical information. Changes to the Enshrined Feeds are managed through community governance, ensuring flexibility and adaptability over time.

# How Tellor Works

## Submit Data Requests

Users submit queries—whether it’s price data, weather information, or a custom request—accompanied by a TRB tip to incentivize reporters.

## Reporters Submit Data

Individuals that stake TRB can submit data for the query, and the chain aggregates their submissions using the median or average value to ensure accuracy.

## Validators Secure the Chain

Validators ensure the integrity of the data and maintain the state of the chain, making sure that Tellor remains secure and decentralized.

## Data is Bridged Across Chains

Using a light client bridge, Tellor’s oracle data can be securely relayed to other blockchains, ensuring seamless integration across various networks.

## Dispute & Secure

In case of any false data submissions, a dispute mechanism ensures that dishonest reporters are penalized, protecting the integrity of the system.

Users can tip in TRB to incentivize prompt data submissions from reporters.

### Time-Based Rewards

TRB is minted as inflationary rewards, with 75% going to reporters and 25% to validators, promoting network activity.

### Dispute Mechanism

TRB is used in disputes, where token holders vote on the accuracy of reported data, with potential slashing for dishonest reporters.

### Governance

TRB holders participate in protocol governance, voting on protocol upgrades.
